Craft show failures

Feb 2009

I make bead jewelry. I have been to five craft shows so far. Many people stopped at the booth and browsed through the jewelry. However, I made very few sales. I have not been able to re-coup the cost of even one of the shows. What am I doing wrong?

You are doing a good job getting the potential customers in your booth. However, these people are not buying. You must look at your competition. See what they are selling and how have they priced their items. Are your items over-priced in comparison? Are you selling styles that in hot demand? You also evaluate your own selling techniques. How do you welcome the potential customers? Are you courteous? Do you engage the customer? This often helps convert a browser into a customer.
